What is the difference for a referral amount and referral rate in attributes

I’m struggling to understand how to setup my first affiliate inside woocommerce with this plugin. I’m not sure what these two mean? Or is it better to track affiliates by coupon codes? I’m not sure what’s better? Or do we do both?

  1. Hi Dustin,

These attributes allow you to set a referral rate, or amount, per affiliate. The rate will be a percentage of the net sale amount and the referral amount will be a fixed amount no matter what the net sale amount is.
You can for example promote an affiliate and give a specific rate or amount higher than others, or lower than other affiliates. If you prefer all your affiliates to get an equal commission, then you should use the commission setting under Affiliates > Settings > Commissions.

Regarding coupons, this is another tool for your affiliates to get referrals. Your affiliates can promote coupon codes and attract new customers for your site.

In general, all these settings depend on your plan. Whether you prefer to pay a fixed amount per affiliate or a rate would also depend on what you sell and what you are willing to pay your affiliates.

    Kind regards,
    George
