User Registration for Affiliates

How do I make sure that the affiliate links that are being used are tracking the sign ups for regular registration, not the affiliate registration.I want to make sure that new users signing up for the website (as regular members not affiliates) are being counted for the affiliates. Where do I track all this information?

  1. Hi Michael,

I will explain you briefly how the affiliate plugin works, so that i can make it more clear.

When an affiliate is registered through the affiliate registration form, a user record is also created for that affiliate. The affiliate gets an affiliate link which can promote it in order to earn commissions.

When another user registers after following an affiliate link, the affiliate plugin tracks that registration and a referral is recorded. The affiliate gets a referral for recommending a new user.

If a new user registers simply by visiting the site, then the new user registration is not tracked by affiliates plugin.

    Kind regards,
    George

  2. Hi George,

So it didn’t really answer my question. What I want to know is if the affiliate link given to my members tracks new users sign ups if they register only as a regular member, NOT an affiliate.

  3. I see, when new users register, they get the role subscriber by default.

Yes, exactly if you use the “Apply for elite membership;” you are added as an affiliate and also as a user if you haven’t registered.

    Cheers

  4. Please go to my website. http://yescrew.com

On the homepage you can register and it registers you as a subscriber, NOT an affiliate. This is what I mean by regular member.

If you go to the right hand side menu and click on “Apply for elite membership;” only then can you register as an affiliate.

I need to know that the regular member registrations (sign ups) are counting toward the affiliate referrals.

  5. Well not exactly.

As i mentioned on my previous comment, if the user registered after following an affiliate link and User registration integration is enabled, then yes.

What do you mean exactly by “regular subscriber” ?

    Cheers

  6. So in other words, this information on Affiliates>Referrals is capturing people who sign up as a regular subscriber to wordpress, NOT as an affiliate, correct?

  7. Hi Michael,

If you have enabled the user registration integration under Affiliates>User Registration, you should be able to see new user registrations that come from an affiliate under the normal statistics pages like Affiliates>Referrals.

    Kind regards,
    George
