Subscription Stay as ‘Inactive’

I’ve created a test account on my page and a test subscription. I am able to successfully purchase said subscription from the test account and am successfully redirected to a page on my website with the [paypal_return] shortcode. This page shows that the subscription has been activated successfully along with a list of groups that the subscription grants. However, the test account does not get added to the groups specified, and the subscription list on the admin page shows the subscription as ‘inactive’ for the test user. The users profile page also shows that he does not have any active subscriptions.

The test page I am running this on is not open to the web and is only accessible through LAN. Could this be the reason?

Thanks

Edit: I have also set the grace period to ‘None’ and waited 24 hours to be sure. The subscription still does not leave the ‘inactive’ state

  1. Hi Stanislaw,

    Yes.
Since your site doesn’t have access to the internet, the payment cannot be completed because the plugin hasn’t received a reply from PayPal regarding the payment request.

FYI, the best way to test PayPal related functions is to use a sandbox account which provides both a merchant and a buyer account that you can use for testing. Check this for more information. After setting up your sandbox account, you should use it for testing and once you are done, all you need to do is switch to your normal PayPal account in the plugin settings.

If there is any issue after that process, feel free to start a new topic.

    Kind regards,
    George
