Shortcode form unfilled form fields are showing up in notifications
—
by
Hi,
I am having a problem with the notifications from the contact 7 plugin on the pro version. When users fill in the form and don’t include the non-required fields. Then the shortcode is maintained. I don’t want the shortcode to be in unfilled form fields, it’s driving my client crazy. If the form field is left blank, I assume that they should be blank in the form. Here is an example:
Referring Agent:Direct (ID 1) on Durango Merchant Services.

Yes you are right Nathan, although i would call it a feature to be added in the TODO list of the plugin.
In the meantime, you can still modify the message being sent from the form settings in the CF7 edit view of the form you are interested. You can find this if you go to Edit and click on the tab Mail.
There is also an option there to Exclude lines with blank mail-tags from output, which is what is missing from the Affiliates Notifications.
Kind regards,
George
Ahhh, I see. That is the problem. I have two different forms, a short one and a long ones. The short form doesn’t have the fields that still have the tag in them. I think this is a bug in the product as it means a site can only have one form, which is a little limiting. Are there any plans to correct this?
Hi Nathan,
Yes you assume right, fields that are not filled up should be blank in the notification emails from Affiliates plugin.
This is what i found in the CF7 plugin FAQ for such issues and i am quoting it below as well
So, if you reviewed that each email tag corresponds to a form field, perhaps we should have a look at your site. In order to do so, please send your admin credentials to support[at]itthinx[dot]com and make sure that you include a link to this topic in your email message.
Kind regards,
George
