Setting Up Different Commissions in Currency Units for Each Tier

I would like to set up referral commissions in dollar amounts, rather than percentages, that differ for each tier. For example, for every item purchased by a Tier 1 affiliate, I would like to credit the OR $0.75. For every purchase by that same OR’s Tier 2 affiliates, I would like to credit the OR $1.50. The advertising for Affiliates Enterprise indicates that this is possible. I have downloaded and activated the plugin that allows me to set commissions in dollar amounts rather than percentages, however, it doesn’t seem to be working, and even if it did work properly, that would only allow me to set one commission per product, it would not allow me to set dollar amount commissions that are different for different tiers. Every item in my shop will have the same commission amount, not the same percentage, yet a different amount needs to be applied to each tier. How can I accomplish this with Affiliates Enterprise?

  1. I have done everything you mentioned, however, there is one thing I still cannot accomplish. I have set the product rate in Product<Affiliates to 0.75. Since I am using the "Affiliates Custom Method Products Amount plugin, this 0.75 should be understood as $0.75.

Now, let's assume I have affiliate A, who referred affiliate B. Now affiliate B refers affiliate C. So when affiliate C makes a purchase, affiliate B is the original referrer and affiliate A is the tier 1 affiliate. When affiliate C purchases the item, I want affiliate B (the OR) to get $0.75 and affiliate A (Tier 1) to get $1.50. So the Tier 1 affiliate is getting twice the amount that the OR is getting.

So once I've set the product rate to $0.75, the OR should get 75 cents. Then I tried to set the Tier 1 level rate at 2.0) and check the box making the level rates relative to the OR rate rather than to the product amount. Then when I try to save it, the level rate box for Tier 1 always reverts back to 1.00. It will not allow me to put in a number over 1.

So, I've tried to uncheck the box that makes the level rates relative to the OR rate, which should now make the level rates relative to the product amount. But in order to do this, I have to put a rate in the box, but that rate will not be the same for each product, since I want Tier 1 to receive $1.50 regardless of the price of the product.

I have also increased the number of decimals allowed in the level rates boxes, so that I can get real close to the amount I want, but even if I do that, the rate will only be accurate for one item at one given price.

I have read all of the forum comments/answers about this issue, but there seems to be no way to have Tier 1 get a higher commission than the OR, and there seems to be no way to get both OR and Tier 1 to receive the exact same amount for every item, regardless of the price of the item. Can you please help. Thanks!

    1. Hi Thomas,

Thanks for the detailed response, there are two main points that I think would solve this:

1 – The rate decimals shouldn’t be limited (this is something we’ve already scheduled to remove).
2 – The 1 maximum level rate should be removed (or at least we should provide an option so that it isn’t enforced).

I’ve added #2 to be included in the next update which is already being prepared. This would be the most feasible way to achieve what you need based on relative rates, except that you still won’t have a way to use per-product level rates or amounts (which if we had, would be a direct solution if I really understand what you’re trying to achieve).

  2. To achieve this there is a very simple approach if you are using an integration that provides product rates. For WooCommerce you need to activate product rates under Affiliates > WooCommerce Integration, also use this plugin Affiliates Custom Method Products Amount so that the rates are interpreted as fixed amounts and under Affiliates > Settings choose Referral Amount Method, click Save and then select ACM::products_amount as the method.

Based on the product amounts you must adjust the level rates so that the resulting tier rates are in accordance with the amounts you want to grant.

Note that OOTB Enterprise does not (and does not intend to) support fixed amounts and in case you have seen this advertised anywhere please it is un unintended error and I’d appreciate it if you could point me to the page where you have seen that so it can be corrected.

Anyhow, with the above you can set things up to have the equivalent of what you want to achieve. Please let me know if you need further help once you have set it up.
