Registering affiliates manually
—
by
Hi there, just installed Affiliates Enterprise and a few of the plugins and trying to figure it all out. The situation I’m trying to address is the following:
We are a company selling products via a practitioner-only network. In terms of how this impacts affiliate registration, I do not want anyone and everyone to be able to register as an affiliate, as I’d like us to keep a close control on who registers.
Question #1
Is there a way to control the registration, i.e. allow a new practitioner to register, but one of us would need to check their credentials before we agree to their registration.
Question #2
I would like to generate affiliate URLs manually, so I can then send them to each of our practitioners. They will then send these to their own clients. Could you help with this? I have checked your documentation but I’m still confused as to how I generate a simple, customised URL, e.g. for affiliate name “practitioner1” I’d like to be able to generate a URL that looks like www.mysitename.com/practitioner1. Is this possible?
Question #3
Once one of our practitioner affiliates shares their URL with one of their clients, what happens? Does this URL take their client directly to our site? I imagine then the client needs to register and that at that time they are “enrolled” as referrals for that practitioner affiliate? Is this a seamless process or do I need to do anything for this to happen? Can you guide me through it please?
Question #4
I have 2 tiers to take into account. Practitioner affiliates get 25% of sales, and our sales person gets 8% of that 25%. Could you advise how to do this? I assume I just use the “relative rates” option?
Question #5
I don’t understand how to use the “Always record referrals” option. Could you explain the advantage enabling this?
Basically, this is the way I’m understanding the system behaviour:
1. I create a customised URL
2. I share it with my affiliate
3. My affiliate shares it with their client
4. Client lands on website and registers? then is added to that affiliate’s referral list?
5. Client spends £100 out of which
6. Affiliate gets 25%, and
7. I get 8%.
Thank you so much in advance of your help. I’m looking forward to seeing this implemented on our website. It’s a really powerful tool and I’ll be using it on other sites too!
Thanks again!

Thank you Antonio!
Hi,
#1: You can enable wordpress user registration. When the creadentials area agree you can create the affiliate in Affiliates->Manage Affiliates:New Affiliate using the wordpress username.
#2: You can see the affiliates url in Affiliates->Manage Affiliates in last column. You can config the parameter name in Affiliates->Options. If you want use the username instead of a number, you have Affiliates Username Plugin.
Normally affiliates have a page area when they can see their urls, and more data (you can generate this page in Affiliates->Options)
#3: How do you want generate commissions, selling products or registering new users ? When an userA click the link, he has a cookie, that associate he userA with the affiliate. If you use an ecommerce system, when he buy anything, a commission is generated to the affiliate. You can configure the cookie expiration in Affiliates->Options:Referral timeout.
#4: Exactly, you must use 0.25 in Affiliates->Settings, 0.08 in first tier, and check “relative rates”.
#5: This option is used when you add affiliates manually on the back end.
cheers
Hey Antonio. I just purchased and installed the “AFFILIATES BY USERNAME” plugin. How do it implement it? I went to affiliates>options and there isn’t anything there that refers to this.
Hi,
you have more information here.
For example:
