Referrals Not Working
—
by
I have a WooCommerce install, I installed Affiliates Pro and have created my affiliates. I set my rate (20%), then I follow my affiliate link http://site.com/?aff=2 and I made a few purchases. I am seeing visits and hits but no referrals.
I have toggled many settings – toggled redirection on/off, affiliate ID encoding on/off. I have also created rates specifically for each of my affiliates to make sure I have all possible bases covered.
Overall it appears I am able to track visits, but purchases are not being tracked. I am expecting affiliates to be tracked without having to use a coupon code using the affiliate URL.

Thank you George – this update worked!
Hi Daniel,
I’ve added my email reply here as well for future reference. I will mark the topic as Resolved and if you require further assistance, you can start a new topic.
This was normal because of Affiliates Permanent. This plugin creates permanent relations between customers and affiliates. If we don’t enable the first option, whenever a guest makes a purchase like I did, the plugin will “discard” the suggested referral. With this option enabled the referral is attributed normally to the referring affiliate.
Also, if you want affiliates to be able to refer themselves, you need to enable the respective option in Affiliates > Settings under Referrals tab. In the same place there is the option to store Direct referrals whenever no other affiliate is applicable.
Regarding your rate under Affiliates > Rates. If you are planning to grant a specific rate only to affiliate youmarketing then the rate is correct. If though a new affiliate registers, upon a referred order he won’t get a referral because there is no “general” rate set. Please have a look at Rates where there is a detailed description on this topic.
Kind regards,
George
Hi George,
I’ve managed to install the Affiliates WooCommerce integration, however, when I test a purchase via incognito it doesn’t attribute it to either the ‘direct’ or ‘affiliate’ under the referrals section.
Will send you login details 🙂
There must be a conflict that is preventing the installation. I have sent you the integration by email. You can install it manually as any other plugin.
If the problem persists, don’t hesitate to contact me again.
Kind regards,
George
Okay I found the itthinx updates plugin. After installing that my screen looks different – I now have a button to install the WooCommerce integration as you can see here: https://imgur.com/a/HnuanJw
However when I hit that button I get this error: An unexpected error occurred. Something may be wrong with WordPress.org or this server’s configuration. If you continue to have problems, please try the support forums.
When I try to find the Affiliates WooCommerce Integration plugin I am taken to this page: https://www.itthinx.com/plugins/affiliates-woocommerce/ which I do not see the plugin I need. Here is the page – https://imgur.com/fSO5i5e what am I missing?
When I go to Integrations > Settings > Integrations
Under the first section, WooCommerce I see this message:
———————–
WooCommerce
This plugin integrates Affiliates Pro and Affiliates Enterprise with WooCommerce. With this advanced integration plugin, referrals are created and synchronized automatically for your affiliates when sales are made. This integration also supports referrals on recurring payments related to subscriptions and coupons related to affiliates to grant referrals when customers use them to credit the corresponding affiliate.
This integration is suitable to be used with Affiliates Pro or Affiliates Enterprise.
This requires the itthinx updates plugin.
————————
All this tells me is I need the itthinx updates plugin. This message does not convey to me I need anything further to integrate the Affiliates Pro with WooCommerce. The link provided for the itthinx updates plugin is this: https://www.itthinx.com/plugins/itthinx-updates/ which seems to be a blog post and just mentions generating a key. I’m not seeing an actual plugin to download which is what I am looking for.
Then on the top of my WordPress admin page I see this message:
————————
Please install the itthinx updates plugin to enable automatic updates for your plugins by itthinx.
————————
The link points here: http://site.com/wp-admin/update.php?action=install-plugin&plugin=itthinx-updates&_wpnonce=eab4a21cc3 which throws up this error on my WordPress install: An unexpected error occurred. Something may be wrong with WordPress.org or this server’s configuration. If you continue to have problems, please try the support forums.
Another issue I have is under the Affiliates submenu there is no “WooCommerce Integration” option. Does this pop up after I install the itthinx updates plugin?
Here is my integrations screen: https://imgur.com/a/F0Zzbb8 My main issue is I am not sure if WooCommerce is integrated (I think this is a no) and I can’t find a clear next step to setting up the integration as I can’t find an installable itthinx updates plugin.
Hi Kevin,
Please make sure that you have installed Affiliates WooCommerce integration through Affiliates > Settings, under Integrations tab. All the integrations listed can be installed for free.
Once you install Affiliates WooCommerce integration, you will be able to track referrals on sales and add even more specific rates, like product rates, category and term specific rates. You can also have a look at the integration’s documentation page.
If the problem still persists after installing the integration, please send me temp admin access to your site to george@itthinx.com and also enable WP debugging.
Kind regards,
George
