Pre sales support

Hi
I need some help.
The groups plugin seems to do the job of complex hierarchy structure, but I am lost with the documentation in terms of how to use it.
It may be that the free version cannot do what I need, documentation says:
To view and use the Groups box, you need to have the permission to Access Groups and to Restrict Access.

What does this mean? I have looked for these two terms using your search facility, and there is no direct match.
Is this referring to add-on plugins, and if so, which ones?

My requirements are :
1 To have users assigned to a group, either at the back end, or via a front end assignment
2 to have a forum which is owned by a group, which in turn has access permissions set by users for that group
3 To have other posts or pages owned by a group
4 Optimally to work with the set of only those users who belong to a group and its subgroups. This is something I can get programmed if ITTHINX has no desire to do.

The first three are basic to hierarchical group requirements.
For me to use it though, I will need some step by step instructions.

Currently when I look at a post or page in the backend, I can see the group option at the top right (though it says “You cannot set any access restrictions.”)
I want to have the ability to associate people with groups at the front end as well.
Frankly I found the documentation confusing.

Please help.
thanks
Phil

    Hi Philip,
This sentence is referring to what you need to set the permissions to your user role.
From Groups->Options you can check if your user’s role has the correct Groups permissions.
If you need to join users to groups from the frontend, you can use the [groups_join] shortcode. From the backend, you can do it from the Users section (remember that you need to have the correct Groups permissions).
    Kind Regards,
    Antonio B.
