not existing username leads to wrong start page

Hey,

for existing usernames ref-links work totally fine.

But we encountered a weird issue for non-existing usernames:
for someone landing at our website with /?ref=(nonexistingusername) he is redirected to a page with our blog posts, not the original one, but a complete different template, instead of our starting page as for existing usernames.

Is this a known bug?
Any workarounds or bug fixes?

Thanks in advance!

  1. Hi Tobias,

    Thanks for mentioning.
This was not a known issue but i get the same results on my test installation.
This happens probably because this query parameter is not returning any results so it returns the latest posts. However, i will further investigate the issue to find out exactly why and where it derives from.

What happens if you choose to Redirect to destination without affiliate url parameter. This option can be enabled under Affiliates > Settings? In general does it interfere with the normal process of Affiliates plugin? For a valid affiliate username, are the hits/visits/referrals normally recorded?

    Kind regards,
    George
