Multiple roles not being imported correctly

I’ve been using the plugin for a while now. No issue. However now when I import the MS DOS txt file, with this header (@user_login user_email first_name last_name roles) which I’ve always used, with multiple roles separated by comma like this (Amy Aderman alderman@gmail.com Amy Aderman “2re, 2nu, 3pr”), it imports all ok except the roles. It randomly picks one or possibly 2 of the roles but not all the roles. Please help.

  1. Hi Doron,

Indeed your second import file makes more sense. The only points I should mention are to omit the quotes from the roles lists and also make sure that these roles exist on your installation, otherwise new users won’t be assigned to each role and will default to the existing roles( subscriber, editor, … etc ).

    Kind regards,

  2. Hi Doron, thanks for sharing your import file with me.

As it seems the column structure and names are not correct. For example the column names should be lowercase and when you need to override some of the columns, then the first column name should begin with a “@”. Also, the first column name First Name and Last Name is not valid and there are no columns indicated for groups or roles. Furthermore, the double quotes for data on the last column named Sessions should be omitted, for entries with multiple terms you should only use a comma separated list.

Please have a look at the plugin documentation regarding the File Format and Column Order and then adjust your import file accordingly.

    Kind regards,
    George

  3. Hi Doron,

Thanks for using our tools for content restriction on your site, we appreciate it.

Can you please provide us with a sample of the import file you are using?
I think it’s better to try and import it in one of my test installations. You may send the sample file to george at itthinx dot com.

    Kind regards,
    George
