Manually add an affiliate
—
by
We added some custom fields to the sign up page.
However when we try to add an affiliate manually the fields are not there. And when I try to edit the affiliate the system won’t let me change the custom fields.
How can we get this working?

Hey Kathleen,
After adding the affiliate manually, edit this affiliate’s user profile, you’ll find them there. A user profile can be edited via editing the affiliate, where you can find the option to Edit the user profile, or the usual way through Users > All Users.
Cheers,
George
Hey Kathleen,
Oh I see, it’s easier than initially anticipated and I must apologize for not asking earlier about the fields you need to use. Last name, Address and Website already exist for each user profile on your site and perhaps you need to add the Business name or use the existing field Company. For the fields that are missing, you can add them under Affiliates > Settings > Registration and then they will appear for each user profile, under Affiliate Information section.
Also, if you wish to allow your affiliates to edit that information, then you can use the [affiliates_fields] in a new page.
Kind regards,
George
Those fields have been added. The problem I have is I can not see them when I want to add a manual affiliate.
This is about existing affiliates, I really need to solve this problem asap.
Hi Kathleen,
Please allow me to explain this situation a bit further.
All three Affiliates plugins support a specific set of features based on their design. The infrastructure around these plugins, including the code that implements its features and the database that stores the data, are built exactly with the predefined design in mind. When a customer has special/specific requirements that are not fulfilled by the application, then there are two possible workarounds: Either finding a workaround based on additional existing tools that can complement what is already supported, or adjusting the application itself.
For the latter and in order to support additional data for each affiliate, while allowing the admin to modify that data through the Dashboard, additional adjustments are needed to the application’s infrastructure, both the code and the database. Also, from the fact that the aforementioned adjustments to the application will take time and your request can already be fulfilled by extending user data, then IMO it’s more preferable for you to take this route. Hence my recommendation to extend user data instead.
However, just in case I’m missing important details on that data, what exactly are you trying to store? Can you mention a few examples?
Kind regards,
George
I am trying to store:
Last name
Business name
Website
Address
All essential for me to invoice the payouts.
Hey Kathleen,
Then you can explore the option of using custom fields for your users. This can be possible via another plugin that allows you to provide additional custom fields for your users, other than the typical ones provided by default. This way you can add your extra data, but for each user who in turn is connected to an affiliate account.
Kind regards,
George
It’s sounds a bit strange to me to add another plugin for this function.
I have existing affiliates who I want to import or add manually, but I can’t do it because I can’t add them manually without losing the information. I do think this needs to be improved within the plugin.
Hi George,
Ok, but they are necessary for me…
So how can I add them or edit them on the backend?
Regards
Hi Kathleen,
All the custom form fields that you add via Settings > Registration > Affiliates Registration Form, are used in the frontend registration forms, which can be added in a page via one of the following shortcodes:
[affiliates_dashboard]
[affiliates_dashboard_registration]
[affiliates_registration]
and will appear for visitors or users that are not affiliates.
On the other hand, when adding an affiliate from the backend these fields are not necessary and only the mandatory fields are rendered: name, email, username, from, until.
Kind regards,
George
