Landing page questions

I’ve got a few questions that I want to ask on behalf of my customer. I think I know the answers to some of these as I’ve done a bit of searching and watched some videos.

1) My customer wants a page that serves as both the landing page and also enables the affiliate to get credit for the sale. Is this possible? e.g. the landing page URL would be domain.com/affiliatename. However, the in the affiliate setup his URL is domain.com/?affiliates=6. Is it possible to have the first link and have it automatically trigger the functionality behind the second link?

2) Is it possible for a supplier to self-register AND have them be set up as having been referred from another affiliate in the system? e.g. they hit the landing page in the previous example and are then marked as having been referred by that affiliate (I have 3 levels set up in the system).

3) After watching the videos and reading other support tickets it looks like I need to create a new page (/affialiatename) if I want to have a unique landing page for each affiliate (verbiage, banner, etc). Is there anything new that I might be missing?

Thanks so much!

  1. Hi Adam,

    Following the example we provide in the [affiliates_pixel] page, the result of the shortcode will be something similar to
    <img src=”http://www.example.com/affiliates.png?affiliates=18″ alt=”” width=”1″ height=”1″ />

    and this is what should be placed in the landing page. This is indeed an image but has dimensions 1×1(pixels) so it is not visible.
    In your case the rendered pixel would be something like
    <img src=”http://www.your_domain.com/affiliates.png?affiliates=6″ alt=”” width=”1″ height=”1″ />

    We use the shortcode above that should be placed in the affiliate area page. When the affiliate logs in, will see the resulting html image snippet, so it is safer and easier for the affiliate to use it.

  2. Thanks again George, I get your meaning now.

    Back to the tracking pixel – I am a little confused as to what I am supposed to put on my page. I have created a brand new page that I want to be the landing page for my affiliate “L2” (url is “/L2”). His referral link is “?affiliates=6”. In the documentation there is shortcode that can be put into the page (which you give in the example) but then there is also an image with referral link url associated with it. Which one am I supposed to use?

    Is it enough to simply put that on the page?

  3. Hi Adam,

    You are welcome.
    The snippet I mentioned is for reference. If you are familiar with PHP coding you can modify it and apply it for registration. The idea is the same, the application is slightly different. If you need further help on that, please let me know.

    Cheers,
    George

  4. Thanks again George, I really appreciate your help.

    One note of clarification about #2. I was asking about the possibility of having an affiliate be linked to a referrer at the point of registration and not checkout. Is this possible? Or does someone have to go in and set up their hierarchy manually?

  5. Hi Adam,

    An affiliate landing page can be done the way you’re asking by utilizing the affiliate pixel. Once the page containing the pixel is visited, the affiliate cookie will be stored and a referral can be recorded. However, as you already mentioned, there must be one landing page per affiliate. The affiliate pixel is unique per affiliate.

    Regarding referrer choice, there is a custom addon made by Antonio, which added a selection on WooCommerce checkout. If you are familiar with PHP coding, you are welcome to suggest modifications to the repository on GitHub.

    Kind regards,
    George
