Import not working because of Seperation Symbol

Hi,

I just bought the very promising plugin Groups Import/Export that i want to use for a clients customer portal. The problem i run into is that i am working on a Dutch Windows PC. Here in the Netherlands we use ; as a symbol in our CSV’s. I am able to import into Excel the exported file from the website with the users, because than i can choose what the seperation symbol is.

When i want to save the xls file to a csv, i am not able to choose and i get the ; which is not recognized by the import/export plugin. I get the message “Error on line 8, nieuw@test.com;test;test;;test;;test;test is not a valid email address.” that’s because of the ; i believe.

Now i think i partly found a solution, but exporting the xls to a txt file with tab-seperation. But when i import this i only get 1 user added and i get a 500 error. When i refresh the users i see one user is added, but the group i want to create with this user is –. While i checked the “Create new groups if they do not exist.”

I really hope you can help me, because this plugin could help me a lot by creating the user lists for this company.

The files i used to try it out are:

CSV-file with ; as seperation https://www.dropbox.com/s/unjqpgxfms04m2f/test2.csv?dl=0
TXT-file with tab as seperation https://www.dropbox.com/s/7q4xgr5w587zf6e/test3.txt?dl=0

  1. Hi Dennis,

    The accepted file format is a txt file with tab separated values, so your second option is the correct one.
    The thing that worries me is the 500 error which probably means you run out of php memory. Try to increase it by adding a constant like this in your wp-config.php file:
    define('WP_MEMORY_LIMIT', '128M');
    Try this and let me know if the issue persists.

    Kind regards,
    George
