How to setup purchase commission with Tiers?
—
by
Dear Support,
I have the following requirements:
Scenarios 1:
When any persons bought following items, the persons has product commission:
1. Product A -> 10 commission
2. Product B -> 20 commission
3. Product C -> 30 commission
Scenario 2
Also, if Person A refer another Person B who bought Product A, the following will happen
1. Person B bought Product A
-> Person B has got product commission of 10 (Product Commission)
-> Person A has got 350 commission because Person A refer Person B who bought a level commission product (Level Commission)
As far as I understand the plugin. I have setup the the following which can fulfil the level commission
1. Set OR (Original Referrer) in the Rate table with Product A with Amount of 350
But how to make the product level and level commission exists in the same system?

Hi Alex,
An affiliate can refer himself if:
1. He exists as an active affiliate on your site
2. The Auto-referral option is enabled
3. Uses ie his affiliate link to make a purchase on the shop.
If the link is not used then the affiliate cookie is not stored and therefore there is no referral recorded for that purchase.
On Question 2 your assumption is correct but apart from the Auto-referral option, the affiliate should also ie follow his affiliate link and then make a purchase.
Kind regards,
George
hi George,
Thanks for your prompt reply.
Question 1:
I have setup the Auto-referral, but when I am doing the following, it doesn’t seem to work.
1. Registered as a user
2. Login to the page
3. Purchase a product that has the OR setup as 350
After that I cannot see referral amount in the Manage Affiliate.
Question 2:
I have setup the rate as following and users are getting correct Affiliate amount
1. Product A, Level “OR” (No level) setup, commission amount 350
2. Product A, Level 1, commission amount 100
The following is working as below
1. Person A referred Person B,
2. Person B referred Person C
3. Person C bought Product A
4. Person B has the 350 commission because it is OR referrer
5. Person A has the 100 commission because it is Level 1
In this case, if I want to use Auto-Referral, after I select the Auto-Referral, does that mean the following will apply.
1. Person A referred Person B,
2. Person B referred Person C
3. Person C bought Product A
4. Person C has the 350 commission because it referred itself
5. Person B has the 100 commission because it is Level 1
Please kindly advise.
Hi Alex,
Welcome back to our support channel for Affiliates plugin.
The main concept of affiliates marketing is to have one person called the affiliate that refers new customers on your shop. When a referred customer makes a purchase then the affiliate that referred the customer will get a commission.
In Scenario 1 if you wish your affiliates to be able to refer themselves then you need to use the appropriate option in Settings called Auto-referrals. When this option is enabled affiliates will be able to refer themselves.
In Scenario 2 this also depends on Scenario 1 because IMO you should first distinguish and comprehend the aspect of affiliate marketing.
Assume the following structure of affiliates on your site:
1. Affiliate Jack has referred affiliate Bob
2. Affiliate Bob has referred affiliate Andrew
If Affiliate Andrew has referred a new sale then Andrew is the OR, affiliate Bob is at level 1 of tiered commissions and affiliate Jack is at level 2 of tiered commissions.
If Affiliate Bob has referred a new sale then Bob is the OR and affiliate Jack is at level 1 of tiered commissions. In this case there is no tiered commission for level 2.
In case you haven’t noticed it yet there is a very descriptive blog post related to Affiliates tiers and how are the tiered commissions being calculated, which you may find here: – https://www.itthinx.com/2018/04/04/affiliate-tiers-demystified/
I would kindly ask you to read through it and afterwards if you still need assistance on how to setup your rates, you may follow-up on this thread.
Kind regards,
George
