Groups Paypal Sandbox Testing

Hi, I am in the final testing of our site. Thank you to Antonio and George for all the help.

I am testing using PayPal Sandbox. The transaction goes through fine, the purchase redirects to my Thank you page, and the user is added to the right group (as viewed in Groups Subscription).

2 things:

1) The subscriber is inactive so they can not see the Premium content. Again the group assignment appears in subscription for that user, but inactive prevents them from getting to the content. Can I active this manually or is this a sandbox issue?

2) My Thank you page says:

Thank you, your order for subscription #3 has been successfully processed.
Annual
99.00 $ per year
The subscription grants membership to:
Paid

Why does it say “subscription #3” and is there a way to customize that text?

Ian

  1. That’s great Ian.

Thank you for the feedback too.

  2. OK, with more testing, i found that the issue is that I have “Use Secure URLs”. I get an error when I have that selected, it works fine when I have that unselected.

So unless someone wants to let me know what I need to get https / 443 working then I guess I am ready to go.

    Thanks again.

  3. So I am using the new REST API in paypal. Should I go back to the classic way? Maybe that is the issue.

The test transactions all seem to have been processed correctly in sandbox. No cancels or anything.

    Thanks,

    Ian

  4. Thanks George

Re 1: PayPal says order complete and the money is listed in the Sandbox as expected. You are welcome to look at my test account screens if needed.

Re 2: I edited the Subscription Title when I created the subscription in the plugin. It seems to be the number of the processed subscriptions. I will test this more.

  5. Hi Ian,

Thank you for your kind words, both me and Antonio really appreciate it.

As for the first issue, i would suggest you to have a look at your facilitator sandbox account in case the payment has been cancelled etc. Sorry, but the subscription status cannot be altered manually.

As for the second, if you use the shortcode [groups_paypal_return], it renders info on the subscription bought automatically. So, you can either modify the subscription title, or you can use your own custom message in the Thank you page without the shortcode, as long as the message meets paypal requirements noted here.

    Kind regards,
    George
