Groups Hook for Shortcodes

Is there a way to hook into the existing groups shortcode and edit how the “locked content” description looks?
I know that there is a template modification example with the 2020 template to show only an excerpt, but on the site we are using the plugin we want the author to be able to use the shortcode around whatever content they want and that locked content would then show an image with a “click here to subscribe”. All i can find is a login option or a standard button that says click to subscribe or login.
We want to do a little bit more robust option for the “content lock”
Basically a way to hook into the shortcode and have html code show when the content is locked, different for each shortcode or universal for all shortcodes.

Hi Mike,
Welcome to our support forum for Groups plugin and its addons.
I assume you’re referring to groups_member and groups_non_member shortcodes, where the main concept around both of them is to display the enclosed content when the group condition is met. The enclosed content can be anything, including text, images etc. Perhaps if you could share some more specific details on the enclosed content, I could give you even more specific details on how to use/set it up.
Even though you cannot hook into the shortcode and modify how the enclosed content looks like, you could also create a new shortcode and adjust it according to your requirements. However, I think it’s better if you share some more details first and then I’ll let you know if it’s necessary to proceed with creating a custom addon for your own custom shortcode.
Kind regards,
George
