File path still pointing to old domain after url change
—
by
Hi there,
I recently changed the domain of my WordPress site from annalisav127.sg-host.com to https://rivenditori.arquati.it.
Everything works fine on the frontend, and all media file URLs have been updated correctly. However, the files protected by the Groups File Access plugin are still pointing to the old path on the server:
/home/customer/www/annalisav127.sg-host.com/public_html/wp-content/uploads/groups-file-access/…
Because of this, the protected files are not accessible anymore.
I’ve already tried:
Running a full Search & Replace on the database (including serialized data).
Using SiteGround’s built-in search & replace tool.
Checking plugin settings, but I can’t find a way to update the base path used for file storage.
Is there a proper way to update the absolute path used by the plugin when the domain or server path changes?
Or better yet, is there a filter or constant (like groups_file_access_uploads_dir) I can use to define a fixed path manually?
Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance!
Anna

Hi Anna,
Welcome to our support forum and many thanks for using our tool on your site.
Based on the above, the path of the files stored in your db has changed and you can reflect that change in the db, using the SQL query found here: https://docs.itthinx.com/document/groups-file-access/file-access/ under the section Migrating to a new server.
Most importantly, make sure to take a full backup of your site files and db before processing. Also, if feeling uncertain, then try running the query first on a test server.
Kind regards,
George
