Fake affiliate referrals???

We have Woocommerce and Affiliates Pro on our site, and one particular affiliate has a lot of orders are referrals which appears very suspect. One of those orders was an order that we know did not come from an affiliate, but from a call with a sales rep who also gave the caller a particular coupon code to use. Yet that sale appears “credited” to the specific affiliate.

How can we verify which sales actually came from them or that something else is going on? Your attention to this is appreciated since we have had to close down our affiliate program all together, until we get to the bottom of this.

Thanks,

  1. Hi,

If the coupon code is related to the affiliate, then the purchase will be credited to the affiliate. If the coupon code was not related to the affiliate, then the only way the system would credit the affiliate with a referral is because the client has visited the affiliate’s link and the referral is valid. If the client has not placed the order himself, the sales-rep would have visited the affiliate’s link before placing the client’s order. And another option is that someone (admin) edited the referral and assigned it to the affiliate.

Please make sure that you do not grant affiliates access to the administrative back end. Under Affiliates > Options, you should only have permissions set for Administrators. Any other role should have the defaults set (nothing checked for any role except Admins).
