Display Referral Avatar / Gravatar

Hello,

We are using your product to promote our product through an affiliate network. In doing so, we create product landing pages and implement your affiliates so their customers (referrals) can go to the affiliate’s product landing page. In that pages we’re displaying the referral information.

We’re displaying the referral information using [affiliates_is_referred] shortcodes and display it using [referrer] shortcodes, we want to display the referral Avatar / Gravatar in our landing pages, can you help us?
or can you add avatar referral information in [referrer] shortcodes

here is the example code :

[affiliates_is_referred]
We want to show the Avatar/Gravatar in here
[referrer display=”name”]
[/affiliates_is_referred]

Thanks.

  1. Hi Ibrahim,

This shortcode works for this case too. FYI, it will get the referrer by the cookie stored in the browser which keeps the affiliate id aka the referrer id. This will stop working once the cookie is gone or according to your cookie settings once the cookie is removed by the browser, or if the page containing the shortcode is cached.

I think it’s better to have a look at your setup, you may send temp admin credentials to george at itthinx dot com.

    Kind regards,
    George

  2. Hi Ibrahim,

The snippet you mentioned from the other topic will display the afffiliate’s avatar if set and obviously only for logged in users since we need to find if the user is actually an affiliate.

Regarding your case and in order to avoid any misunderstandings, the shortcode I mentioned on this topic will display the gravatar of the referring affiliate when the customer logs in. In other words affiliate George refers a new customer Paul. Whenever Paul logs in and visits the page containing the shortcode he will see who is the affiliate who referred him, aka George’s gravatar.

    Kind regards,
    George

    1. Hi George,

Oo I see, What we want is different from what you mentioned. We use this landing page for displaying product to customers (quest), not for creating referrer with customers registration. We use wpcf7 for ordering form. And we use affiliate to show the referring affiliate information who lead the customers to that pages.
In other words affiliate George refers a new customer (quest/not login). Whenever new customer (quest/not login) visits the page containing the shortcode they will see who is the affiliate who referred them, aka George’s gravatar. The new customer (quest/not login) will be public visitor to our page.

      Regards,
      Ibrahim

  3. Hi Ibrahim,

Which avatar does your affiliate use?
The shortcode will render the affiliate’s gravatar if it is set. IF it is not set or you are using a third-party plugin for handling avatars, then it won’t be able to retrieve it.

    Cheers,
    George

    1. Hi George,

We still using wordpress default for avatar and it’s using gravatar.
      When I try using snippet from this topic;
      https://www.itthinx.com/topic/affiliate-landing-pages/
the gravatar is showing but only for logged in user not for referred user, the same concept but we want for reffered customers

      Regards,
      Ibrahim

  4. HI Ibrahim,

Let me check the shortcode in case it needs an update and I’ll get back to you through this topic.

    Cheers,
    George

  5. Dear George,

Sorry, I added the shippet to function.php but the shortcode still not showing the avatar.

I try the affiliate link with no login (as customer) and login (as member) the avatar still not showing.

    Regards,
    Ibrahim

  6. Hi Ibrahim,

    Thanks for using our plugins.

Please have a look at this snippet which implements a shortcode and allows you to display the gravatar set for the user. The snippet should be placed in functions.php of your -preferably- child theme and can be used by placing the shortcode [referring-affiliate-avatar] in the place you choose to display the avatar.

    Kind regards,
    George
