Direct referrer assigned but tier referrer not!
—
by
Hi Team,
I have recognized a strange behavior:
I registered a new user with a working ref-link and sponsor (= owner of ref-link) is correctly shown in the wordpress-user management of the newly registered referral.
But when I enter “Manage Affiliates” and open the profile of this newly registered referral, the sponsor (= owner of the ref-link above), is not shown. The tier referrer drop-down is just empty.
Have a look yourself:
Sponsor correctly assigned in WordPress-User Management of newly registered user: See!
Sponsor NOT assigned in “Manage Affiliates”-Profile of newly registered user: See!
What am I missing?
Pls. help!
Thank you very much in advance.
Best Wishes,
Martin

Hey Martin,
That’s great, I’m happy this is resolved.
Wish you good luck with your project and if further assistance is required regarding Affiliates plugins, you’re welcome to create a new topic.
Kind regards,
George
Hey Martin,
Thanks for providing access to your site, I’m afraid though there are performance issues involved when tried to test the installation. The Dashboard took more than 3 mins to load the first time, browsing between different pages in the Dashboard is also pretty slow and regarding Affiliates Dashboard page I tried to visit it and complete a new affiliate registration but even with Coming Soon… plugin disabled, the result is this https://ibb.co/G9FVzzV.
Please have a look at your server load and also enable WP debugging, I suspect you will find interesting information in the debug.log and perhaps issues which you’re still not aware of. At the moment there are 113 plugins activated on your site and even though there are no limits to that amount, the server resources required are high in order to assure the normal operation of the site.
Once you resolve these issues, or at least once Affiliates Dashboard page is accessible again, I can repeat my test process.
To enable debugging, edit your wp-config.php file and do the following:
Replace this line:
define( ‘WP_DEBUG’, false );
with these lines:
define( ‘WP_DEBUG’, true );
define( ‘WP_DEBUG_LOG’, true );
define( ‘WP_DEBUG_DISPLAY’, false );
All log messages will be stored in wp-content/debug.log file.
In general, there are two easy and effective ways to test these two different functionalities.
1. Regarding the referrer test try to register a new affiliate using the affiliate registration form after following an affiliate link from an existing, active affiliate on your system. This how you should check if the referrer has been properly set.
2. Regarding permanent affiliate test, use an affiliate link, visit your shop and make a purchase. If the referral was successful and accepted the new customer should have a permanent affiliate set but not a referrer.
Kind regards,
George
Hi George,
problem SOLVED! 🙂
I changed the ref-link code in the settings and I found the following recommendation in the Affiliate-Docs, which I also followed:
http://docs.itthinx.com/document/affiliates-enterprise/troubleshooting/tiers-affiliates-permanent/
And, all of a sudden, it worked. 🙂
However, thank you very much for your help, you put me on the right track, George. 🙂
Best,
Martin
Hi George,
thanks for your fast and detailed reply. Yes, maybe I didn’t correctly understand the concept behind Affilates Permanent and Affilates Enterprise and they are influencing each other in an undesired way.
But I just sent you a temporary admin – login credentials to your emailadress in order to clarify up on this.
I also need to apologize: In the above post I was incorrectly entering the same screenshot – link for both example links. I now correct the wrong link to provide correct info to all other forum users:
Sponsor correctly assigned in WordPress-User Management of newly registered user: See!
Thanks in advance,
Martin
Hi George,
thanks for the feedback. Yes, I know, there is a lot of crap on the site. We are still heavily working on it, testing and adapting plugins, etc… That’s why there are those performance issues.
But I now tried to implement the Affiliate Enterprise Registration Form.
Here I encounter a strange behavior. In the affilate-settings, I just got one password-field, in the registration form. But it is asking me to enter the password a second time and there is no second password field in the affiliate-registration form.
What might that be. (sorry for asking, but otherwise I will not able to test this thoroughly.
Thanks a lot,
Martin
Hey Martin,
Thanks for reaching our support forum.
Regarding this new registered user, is he an affiliate or a simple user on your site?
FYI, both screenshots show the same thing, but in your case I think it’s better to have a closer look at your site once you provide me with temp admin credentials sent to george at itthinx dot com.
Also, I’ve noticed that you use both Affiliates Permanent and Affiliates Enterprise. The difference between these two is that the former will assign a customer permanently to the referring affiliate, so that all future purchases of the customer will grant the permanent affiliate with a referral. The latter with tiered commissions will grant a tiered commission to the affiliate’s referrer whenever the affiliate refers ie a sale.
Kind regards,
George
