Changing a user’s role triggers wordpress changed password to user
—

We’re seeing that changing a user’s role, not their password, is triggering the WordPress changed password email to the user – they get a confusing email telling them their password has been changed.
Have disabled this on the site in question now by hooking into the email_change_email
filter, but if there’s a way of adding this to Groups it would be useful.

Hey Steve,
Sure no worries, you can always renew your license by buying the plugin again.
As for the weird issue you have, the easiest way to locate the issue, would be to deactivate all the plugins, switch to a new default them and then start activating your plugins one-by-one, each time changing a user role till you reach the one that is producing this issue.
Kind regards,
George
Thanks George.
Hmm, no other plugins there doing anything around this so may be something in core triggering this.
Sorry, didn’t realise support here needed a license.
Hi Steve,
Welcome to our support forum and many thanks for using Groups as your content restriction tool.
According to your ticket description I think you should better check your installation for any other third-party plugins which are capable of sending such an email whenever the user roles changes.
On the other hand adding such a functionality to Groups plugin wouldn’t fit because Groups as a tool doesn’t send such notifications and is only related to content restriction.
Furthermore, your license for Groups Import Export seems to have expired and you should renew it by re-buying the plugin again, in order to gain access again to updates and this support channel.
Kind regards,
George
