Hello again, Mark,
I can confirm that now emails are successfully sent upon new user registration from the affiliate registration form on the front-end. Please give it a try yourself by going to the affiliate area page while not being logged in as a user and filling out the registration form.
Emails can’t be send if you manually add an affiliate through Affiliates > Manage Affiliate, since no new user of the WordPress site is created then – there is no way to send a password and login link for a user that does not exist, or for an already existing user.
Cheers,
Denitsa
Hi Denitsa. I hope you are well.
It seems to be working, Thank you!
Please can you assist me with 2 other things:
1. How do I prevent a second level referral? I only really want to be able to add affiliates that I approve
2. Is there a training site.manual on how to use the banners effectively? And how to set them up
Thanks
Mike
Hey Mark,
Glad we managed to solve that 🙂
As for your other questions:
1. You can set the registration status for all new affiliate registrations (regardless if they are referred by other affiliates or not) under Affiliates > Settings > Registration, choosing Pending from the Status dropdown. This way, whenever a new affiliate wants to join, you’d have to manually approve their status by going to Affiliates > Manage Affiliates.
The documentation page offers a detailed explanation, as well as some screenshots to guide you along the way -> http://docs.itthinx.com/document/affiliates-pro/setup/settings/registration/
Further more, you can disable the option for affiliates to refer new users to register on your site altogether if you’d like, by going to Affiliates > User Registration and making sure that the checkbox for Enable the user registration integration is not checked.
Again, the doc page is here, should you want to take a peek at a detailed explanation -> http://docs.itthinx.com/document/affiliates-pro/user-registration/
2. You can check the documentation page for Banners here -> http://docs.itthinx.com/document/affiliates-pro/banners/ Feel free to ask if there are any questions you might have – I’m here to help! 🙂
Cheers,
Denitsa
Hi Denitsa. Thanks for your reply. Yes the WP mail is working. But still not the automated mail to new affiliates
And further advice will be greatly appreciated 🙂
Mike
Hey Mike,
I see, thanks for clarifying that point.
Then it’s possible that the affiliate cookie is not stored properly. This could be due to any of the following reasons:
1) A conflicting plugin or the active theme – if possible, disable all plugins apart from the Affiliates Pro, switch to a default WP theme (like twenty-nineteen) and try the notifications again to see if they’re sent out.
2) You have some kind of caching functionality enabled – be it a plugin, or server-side, that blocks cookies. Disable any caching plugin you might have, check if you have a Varnish cache or contact your host.
If none of the above yields any results, please send me temp admin access credentials to denitsa [at] itthinx [dot] com and enable WP debugging.
To do so, you’d need to edit your wp-config.php file and replace the following line:
define('WP_DEBUG', false );
with these lines:
define('WP_DEBUG', true );
define('WP_DEBUG_LOG', true );
define('WP_DEBUG_DISPLAY', false );
Then please send over the debug.log file from your /wp-content folder to the above email.
Keep me posted!
Cheers,
Denitsa
Hi Denitsa
This is terrifying for me… hehehehe. I am not a developer so I am so worried I am going to screw something up if I do the wrong thing…
Strangely, I received an automated email (as administrator) informing me of the new affiliate, but not the one for the affiliate (I have used a test email, so technically I am the new affiliate)
Mike
Hello again, Mike,
Just to be sure (I know it’s silly, but it sometimes happens, it has happened to me at least): under Affiliates > Notifications, you have the Enable registration emails box checked, right?
Don’t worry, you can send me temporary support credentials at my email – denitsa [at] itthinx [dot] com, so I could do the troubleshooting myself 🙂
Cheers,
Denitsa
Hi
Here is a temporary login
Thank you!
Hi Mike,
I’ve removed the temporary login link since that’s sensitive data that should not be available publicly 🙂
I noticed also that notifications are sent when changing the status of an affiliate from Pending to Active, however, when trying to bulk activate affiliates I get a Cannot load affiliates-admin-affiliates. message.
That could mean that you need to up your PHP memory limit – you can contact your host with such an inquiry. You can also ask them to upgrade your PHP version, the overall site performance and security would benefit from that.
Let me know how it goes!
Cheers,
Denitsa
Hi Denitsa
Thanks, I will pop them an email right now and ask them to that
I really appreciate your help.
Perhaps we chat again tomorrow 🙂
Thank you again
Mike
Hi Denitsa
My host has increased the PHP memory to 128MB. Hopefully that will fix it, right?
Mike
🙂
Hey Mike,
Let me know if this worked, I’d be glad to investigate the cause further if needed.
Cheers,
Denitsa
Hi Denitsa
I don’t think it is working …
I am sorry – I feel so stupid!
and I really appreciate your help
I am quite desperate this sorted out as soon as possible
thx
Mike
Hello, Mike,
It is not your fault in any way that this functionality is not working as expected, please don’t sell yourself short!
I know how frustrating it is when technology’s letting you down, I’ll make everything in my power to fix this issue as fast as possible. Please, would you create and admin account from Users > All Users > Add new and send me the credentials at the email I mentioned (here -> denitsa[at]itthinx[dot]com. Don’t worry, you will delete that account as soon as the issue is fixed.
Here’s an article with a description of the process for creating an admin account -> https://kb.yoast.com/kb/how-do-i-add-a-new-admin-user/
Looking forward to your reply!
Cheers,
Denitsa
Hi
I have added you as an admin,
please let me know if you have received the email
thx
I have received the credentials and will let you know of my progress here on the forums.
Cheers,
Denitsa
Hello,
Thank you for using the plugin!
Is your WordPress site sending out emails successfully in general? You can give a mailing plugin like WP Mail SMTP (https://wordpress.org/plugins/wp-mail-smtp/) a try if not.

Denitsa
