Affiliates ms

Hi there!

I just realized you have a product that may solve my issue if I’m reading this correctly. A few questions.

1. We have our general sales pages (https://collegeprepgenius.com) and we have our store (https://store.collegeprepgenius.com). Will Affiliates MS allow me to send users to the main site and then track them when they come to the store? The store is where we have Affiliates Enterprise installed.

2. Another question…we have an affiliate we would like to track for longer than 30 days. What is the general tracking length? She wants 180 days. Can we increase the tracking length for one affiliate?

3. If we use the pixel, the affiliate would simply add their pixel code to their site and it will track any page on ours?

4. I have a different email on our account details yet nothing comes to it. I just place an order and it went to an old assistant’s address.

We’ve had this on the site for many years and will be working on our affiliate program a lot more this year. I think to change at this point may be a bit of a pain. It’s just sometimes the interface and your site is a bit hard to navigate so I’ve avoided it.

Thanks so much.

  1. Also…if I do a redirect from my store to the sales pages…will it capture that click? I create the redirects from my WPEngine dashboard.

    Thanks.

      Hi Jean,

Permit me to share this thought process with you.

Since you have the affiliates plugin is on store.collegeprepgenius.com, you could simply do the following and your affiliates would still get credited when sales are made.

      1. Set up your affiliates users and corresponding rates for affiliates normally on store.collegeprepgenius.com.
      2. Allow affiliates to share their affiliates links where ever they need to. So long as the referral link leads to store.collegeprepgenius.com and a purchase is recorded your affiliate would get the commission assigned or defined.

So, for example, assume you have an affiliate called SUPERSALESGUY with ID 3 and you’ve created a button on collegeprepgenius.com which has a link of one of the SUPERSALESGUY affiliate link; store.collegeprepgenius.com/?affiliates=3. Whenever that button is clicked by the client/user he/she would be redirected to store.collegeprepgenius.com and any action/transaction that is taken there would be recorded for the affiliate SUPERSALESGUY.

I trust this would help resolve the issue of the redirect.

While waiting for your thoughts on this, I wish you a great day ahead.

      kindest regards,
      Eugen.

  2. I have another question…

Because I have two URLs, collegeprepgenius.com (our sales pages) and store.collegeprepgenius.com (the site with the store and affiliate plugin), it would be best for me not to use the link generator?

If I add a collegeprepgenius.com link to the link generator, it will spit out an affiliate URL. But it obviously doesn’t track? So why would it give me that link?

      Hi Jean,

Good afternoon, I trust you are doing great.

The link generator is applicable to the site which has the plugin installed. Hence if you wanted to use the link generator you would use any link from store.collegeprepgenius.com.

If I add a collegeprepgenius.com link to the link generator, it will spit out an affiliate URL. But it obviously doesn’t track? So why would it give me that link?
Because it states on the link input field that the user should key in any URL on the current site. For instance, a valid input for the field would be store.collegeprepgenius.com/xyz or store.collegeprepgenius.com/xyz/product and so on.

I hope this answers your concerns.

Wishing you an awesome day at the office.

      Warm regards,
      Eugen.

    Hi Jean,

    Thanks for the prompt response.

Unfortunately, the plugin was built for the Network of sites (Multisites).

    Warm regards,
    Eugen.

  4. Hi again…

I just spoke with WPEngine and they believe you’re referring to a multi site. We are way too into our business and these sites to be on a multi site or even consider doing that for this plugin.

Is there no way to do it if the sites share the same IP? Or do you have another solution so that we do this?

  5. Thanks, Eugene.

What do you mean by “network?” I have a domain and subdomain on a dedicated server on WPEngine. Does that count? If you can explain that would be helpful.

    Hi Jean,

Thanks for being an awesome client of itthinx.

    I trust you are doing great!. With respect to your inquiries;

    1. Affiliates MS would work if the sites you mentioned are on a network.
    2. Yes, it is possible to set a custom cookie expiration for an affiliate, this can be done as follows:
Visit your WP Dashboard. Navigate to Affiliates -> Manage Affiliates. There you would see a list of all the affiliates on the system.
Select the desired affiliate, and edit the affiliate.
Scroll to the section: Affiliate Attributes; There click on New Attribute, and on the page that loads up; select Cookie Expiration for the key
and input the value in days desired.
    Then click Add.
    3. Yes as placing the tracking pixel on a site, the affiliate can automatically register hits from visitors who simply view the page
    4. Please could you explain this further?

Thanks again for using Affiliates and its extensions.

While waiting for your response I wish you a fun and fruitful day ahead.

    Warm regards,
    Eugen.
