Affiliate url change
—
by
I want to confirm (before I make a purchase) if I am able to modify the default (permalink) URL affiliate link. My issue is – on my website – I have a primary site with custom PHP pages and a separate WP blog which is where I have the affiliate page installed and configured.
Right now, when you register in the welcome message it returns the affiliate link as www.website.com/blog/?affiliate=7
I would like for it to point to the main site, not the blog. Would it be possible to edit the affiliate URL from www.website.com/blog/?affiliate=7 to be www.website.com/?affiliate=7

Hi Adrian,
FYI, if the referred subscription can be purchased only on the main site then this referral cannot be tracked, Affiliates plugin is compatible only with WordPress.
However, there are two possible ways that you can make this happen but require a different setup with WooCommerce, WooCommerce Subscriptions and Affiliates Enterprise with Affiliates WooCommerce integration:
1. If the blog and the main site are both parts of the same WordPress site.
2. If the blog and the main site are two different WordPress sites but are part of the same WP Multisite network.
For the first option I think everything is pretty straight forward and all you need to do is setup the aforementioned plugins which will allow you to track referred orders.
For the second option you need to create a WP MultiSite installation and once you install all the aforementioned plugins in one of the network sites, you will be able to track referrals from any of the sites in the network using Affiliates MS premium addon.
I should apologise once more for the misunderstanding and if you think that none of the above setups suits you then we should make an exception and issue a refund for your Affiliates Enterprise purchase.
Kind regards,
George
Hi Adrian,
You’re welcome.
For the Dashboard you can override and then edit the affiliate URL right inside the template overview-enterprise.php. Perhaps if you add something like the following you should be ok
https://pastebin.com/raw/916pxv98
Furthermore, please let me explain something which I obviously missed from your ticket description and should apologise. Right now you’re using two different sites where one of them – the blog – is running the affiliate plugin and affiliate program. Even if you provide a link to your affiliates for the main site, each referred visitor will only be tracked in the blog site or in general the site where the affiliate plugin is installed and activated.
What is the main purpose of your affiliate program? How do you plan to monetise referred visits on your site?
Kind regards,
George
Hello George,
Thank you for the above. We will try the above entry.
For more information about our affiliate program – please visit https://www.businessbrokerjournal.com/blog/partners/
So anyone new affiliate member will sign up through this page. The new affiliate members will then promote our site on their website or any other means. The idea is to get affiliates to help market our platform for business brokers or individual business owners to promote their business for sale. So if their referral eventually goes to https://www.businessbrokerjournal.com/Sell-a-Business and picks a subscription, the affiliate will get a payment plus a recurring commission.
Does this help? Any suggestions to help us streamline it better?
I really appreciate your assistance,
Adrian
Hello George,
thank you for your response. I was able to make the change as you suggested. I purchased the Enterprise version but still need some further assistance.
I would like to change the default URL that is given to the affiliate member. I am having issues changing the default URL that shows in the Affiliate Dashboard.
For example, it displays https://www.businessbrokerjournal.com/blog?partners=3 However, I would like to change it to point to the sign-up page on our website which is https://www.businessbrokerjournal.com/Sell-a-Business
Can you let me know specifically where we make the change? Is it in the PHP file? Which PHP file? in WordPress page, where? Perhaps if you have an example? My apologies but I just want to have some clarity.
Hi Adrian,
Welcome to our support channel and please allow me to explain how the notifications work in the premium versions.
First of all, yes you can change the URL included in the welcome email that is sent to your new affiliates. In the premium versions you can modify the contents once you go to Affiliates > Notifications. There are various email templates including the one for new affiliate registrations and you can use the URL of your choice.

For further assistance with the plugin functionality you are welcome to follow-up on this thread or start a new one.
Kind regards,
George
