Affiliate Friendly URL link

Hello,

Our affiliate link looks like this:
Http://website/?affiliate=9, but we cannot display this link on Instagram or Social media. Is it possible to have a more friendly link for some of our affiliates? Example: http://website/ambassador_name.

Regards,
Hermanus

  1. Hi Hermanus,

    You are welcome.
The MD5 converts the affiliate id to its equivalent MD5 hash, aka an alphanumeric instead of an integer affiliate id. You can enable it for a moment and go to Affiliates > Manage Affiliates to see the end result.
In your case I would say that no encoding is better, if you try it yourself you’ll see what I mean.

    Kind regards,
    George

    Hello George,

Thank you for the feedback. We will definitely consider adding this to our existing Affiliates Pro. One question however.
What is the MD5 encoding that one can select and if the encoding is enabled, what would a typical Affiliate link look like?
Which option is better? No encoding or the MD5 encoding?

    Regards,
    Hermanus

  3. Hi Hermanus,

Please have a look at Affiliates AddThis and Affiliates AddToAny integrations. Both can be found in Affiliates > Settings under Integrations tab and will help you share your affiliate links easily with AddThis and AddToAny sharing plugins respectively.

Your other option would be to use the premium addon Affiliates by Username which btw can be combined with the aforementioned integrations. After activating you can use
    [affiliates_by_username][affiliates_url][/affiliates_by_username]
    or
    [affiliates_by_username][affiliates_affiliate_link][/affiliates_by_username]
and the affiliate links and URLs would look like this:
    http://www.example.com/?affiliates=billy

    Kind regards,
    George
