Adding existing customers to a sponsor

Hi,
We just installed the affiliate app to our site and we had a customers in the system before now. Having searched through the site, I am unable to add existing customers to an affiliate as we need all customers to be under an affiliate. Kindly advise on how to go about this.

Thank you,

  1. Thanks Denista,
I have looked into the link, means i need to get the plugin. From what I read there too, it means new customers cannot be assigned until I get the plugin too. Is this correct? Cos I have done a trial of registering a new customer too but it isn’t reflecting as under n affiliate. Please confirm if this is the case or otherwise.

      Hey there,
That is correct, you’d need the Affiliates Permanent extension in order to be able to assign a permanent relationship between an affiliate and a user that they have referred to register, so the affiliate receives a commission whenever the user they referred makes an order.
However, just to be completely precise and as an FYI, I should note that without the Affiliates Permanent, affiliates can receive a one-time commission when they refer a new user. These settings are tweaked under Affiliates > User Registration.
Again, the doc page explains it all in detail, should you care to take a look -> http://docs.itthinx.com/document/affiliates/user-registration/

      1. Just about getting started to use your product, yet to buy pro or enterprise but noticed the ff:
        1. Duplication of referrals: An affiliate registers one person, but two persons are seen as registered on his dashboard. One visit but two referrals
        2. Affiliate cannot track referrals when they register. He does not get a mail neither can he see such referrals at his back office when registration is done.

Will I be needing another app for this or is there something I am missing?

          Hello,
          1. Do you have the option Allow duplicate referrals enabled under Affiliates > Settings > Referrals?
          2. The Affiliates Pro and Enterprise versions offer the [affiliates_dashboard_referrals] shortcode (it is also included in the dashboard by default in these versions), which shows information for individual referrals. The doc page is here -> http://docs.itthinx.com/document/affiliates-pro/shortcodes/dashboard/affiliates_dashboard_referrals/
Additionally, the premium plugins offer referral notifications, not just registration emails, so the affiliate can receive an email when they’re credited with a referral. There are some screenshots on the documentation page, which show the added functionality -> http://docs.itthinx.com/document/affiliates-pro/notifications/
          Cheers,

    Hello,
If you want to make existing users into affiliates, you’d need to visit the Affiliates > Manage Affiliates screen and click the New Affiliate button. Then, on the Add a new affiliaet page, fill in the Name field and enter an existing user’s Username, to create an affiliate account for an existing user.
To do that in bulk, you’d need the Affiliates Users extension (https://www.itthinx.com/shop/affiliates-users/ ), which will create an affiliate account for every new user and also provide an import function to create affiliate accounts for existing user accounts.
Here’s the documentation page for the extension -> http://docs.itthinx.com/document/affiliates-users/

In case I misunderstood your question and you actually want to assign existing users as being referred by an affiliate, then take a look at the Affiliates Permanent extension (https://www.itthinx.com/shop/affiliates-permanent/). It allows you to grant commissions to affiliates on all purchases made by customers they refer.
In order to create a permanent relationship between an affiliate and an existing user, you’d go to the specific user’s profile via the Users menu in the Dashboard and choose the affiliate you want to assign the user to from the Permanent affiliate dropdown.
You may also want to check the documentation page to see if the extension fits your purpose -> http://docs.itthinx.com/document/affiliates-permanent/

Let me know if you have further questions!
    Cheers,
    Denitsa
