All Affiliate Sales Attributed to “Direct”
—
by
Purchased Affiliate PRO for WooCommerce and have it setup and it appears to be working correctly. Affiliates can register and receive their affiliate links.
However, every test purchase I have made continues to be attributed to “Direct”. I’ve tried multiple affiliate links, with http and https, with and without MD5 encoding… Nothing seems to work.
I’ve also tried multiple browsers and have cleared cookies. I can see the cookie being set when the referral link is used…but still only attributed to “Direct” when the sale is completed. That said, clearly the order “plumbing” is working since Affiliates Pro is aware that an order went through in WooCommerce.
If I turn “Store direct referrals” off, no referrals are tracked at all.
From looking through the message boards, it seems others have had this issue, but there doesn’t seem to be a conclusive solution.
Appreciate some help on this issue.
Thanks.

I did some more digging into the issue. It turns out that the cookie I was seeing wasn’t the “wp_affiliates” cookie….a cookie wasn’t being set at all for Affiliates Pro.
I ultimately fixed the issue by deactivating the “Restricted Site Access” plugin that I’ve been using while I develop the site. Even when that plugin was set to allow all, it was still blocking the cookie from being set.
Oddly enough, other cookies on my site (e.g. WooCommerce) weren’t being blocked by that plugin.
So–it’s all fixed, but maybe the little lesson I learned could help others.
Many thanks for the update, this can be very helpful if someone else is using that plugin too.
