Activating/deactivating groups without deleting them

I checked a group’s settings and looked up the API documentation but if there’s a solution it’s not obvious to me. So if this shouldn indeed not yet be possible, I’d like you to view this as a suggestion 🙂

Consider having posts to which access is restricted to users being members of either “internal” or “external”, which both could be the case for a single user. Users are created with Groups Import Export at an early point; we would like to avoid changing assignment for multiple users to groups manually.

At first, internal users should have access to restricted pages while external ones shouldn’t. Thus it would be huge to have the ability to deactivate the group “external” for the time being and only reactivate it when access for them should be granted. And it would be nice to be able to change the active state of a group via the API – although if you implemented this, I’m sure it would be included in the API anyway.

  1. Hey Franz,

Indeed I believe so too and for that reason I’ve marked your topic accordingly for our team to further discuss it.

As for the account, you may only use one email address but you can change it by visiting your account page.

    Kind regards,
    George

    Hi George,
that is precisely what I’m suggesting 🙂 Would be a nice future feature.

    Best regards

(btw., is it possible to have a second account associated with our purchases? Our CEO is to be billed but I am “the tech guy”)

  3. Hi Franz,

Welcome back to our support forum and many thanks for using our content restriction tool on your site.

Please correct if I’m wrong here but basically what you’re suggesting is a feature of activating/deactivating certain groups when necessary. This is not supported as we speak but I’m looking forward to your feedback in order to have a more thourough view of your recommendation.

    Kind regards,
    George
