What does the option “Allow duplicate referrals” mean?

The description in the documentation is not clear to me. I assume it adds up multiple payments referred via the same affiliate link. And I also assume that multiple payment which bounced are excluded. Please clarify, because I want to be sure. Thnx.

    Hi Marco,
    this option is to prevent duplicate referrals (commissions) if duplicate requests are generated.
    Some e-commerce platforms generate duplicate requests occasionally, this option prevents duplicate referrals.
    The most common is to have it not checked.
