Firewall warning when enabling affiliate registration

When I check the box to “Allow affiliate registration” in Settings and click Save, I get this error:

You were blocked by the WordPress Security Firewall. Something in the URL, Form or Cookie data wasn’t appropriate.

Warning – You have 3 remaining transgression(s) against this site and then you will be black listed.
Seriously, stop repeating what you are doing or you will be locked out.

How do I fix this?

  1. Thanks Rod!

  2. The plugin I have is WP Simple Firewall by iControlWP.

  3. That’s great Rod.

I would like to ask you which one is the WordPress Security Firewall plugin?

    Thanks.

  4. Thanks for the note, George. I’m actually getting the error as soon as I press Save from the Settings menu. But I found a workaround. I turned off the firewall temporarily, then saved my settings, then turned it back on. Not sure why it was causing an issue, but that seemed to work.

  5. Hi Rod,

Do you get the same when you enable the option Anyone can register, in Dashboard under Settings>General?

In the WordPress Security Firewall settings should be available to allow registrations, otherwise there would be a problem with registrations on your site in general.

    Kind regards,
    George
