Zero Commissions being paid
—
by
We are setting up a subscription based site with Paid Membership Pro, everything works great, except on testing, commssions are not being paid out, they are coming up with zeros ??
It shows the correct affiliates that should earn commissions but not any amount in the column ??
Thanks
Dwayne

Admin credentials sent 🙂 Thanks so much.
Dwayne
Make sure that you haven’t set any attribute of referral rate to 0 in any of these affiliates.
If not then take a full backup of your site and please send admin credentials to support at itthinx dot com, also include a link to this topic.
Cheers
Hi George
Thanks for the detailed explanation. We have that already set and have processed several test sales. When we check the referrals page we see the first person getting the commission but zeros for the next two tiers. The names are there but no amounts…. So we have, Dwayne, Mackenzie, Jared….when we use Jared link, account gets created fine and Jared earns a commission but in the referrals page it shows Mackenzie and Dwayne but no $$ for them.
We have then set in the tiers at 10% and 5% with Jared earning 20%
Any idea why ?
I see Dwayne so i will describe tiers with an example.
Let’s say we have affiliate George who has been referred by affiliate Dwayne. This means that George is Dwayne’s referral.
If a new client buys a subscription by clicking George’s affiliate link, George gets the rate set in the subscription product i described in my previous comment. Dwayne get’s the commission set at tier Level 1.
In the technical part of it now.
As you already know, tiers must be enabled under Affiliates>Tiers, it’s the option Enable multi-tiered referrals and a rate should be set for Level 1 under Level Rates section. Alternatively, Level 1 can also be set for each affiliate separately, if you click on the edit (pencil icon) under Affiliates>Manage Affiliates.
Also, in order for the tiers to work affiliate George must be set to be referred by affiliate Dwayne. So, when you edit affiliate George, go to section Referrer and choose Dwayne as the referrer for George. Then if you edit affiliate Dwayne, George should appear under Depth 1.
That’s it, when someone buys a subscription by clicking George’s link, Dwayne should also get a commission.
I hope this makes everything clear for you.
Cheers
Also we must have a setting wrong for the tiers, we cannot get the tiers to calculate from the product subscription in the cart ?
Been though the documentation for hours…lol
Dwayne
Hi Lois,
You can disable User Registration in Affiliates>User Registration.
Check this documentation page and set the Method to Affiliates_WC_Method::product_rates, i suggest this because you mentioned before that your subscriptions have different prices.
Check this documentation page to enable tiers and also check the examples( if you haven’t already) that are provided there and also at the Affiliates>Tiers page of the plugin itself.
Finally, set product rates for each subscription product separately, by following the instructions in this documentation page.
So we installed Woo Subscriptions and we are close to getting things right 🙂 However, we do not want the base amount to calculate on a sale only the referral rate and tiers. How do we turn that off ?
Again, thanks for your help.
Dwayne
Yes exactly, check the documentation page on WooCommerce Integration.
Also, i would suggest you to have a look at Groups for WooCommerce and WooCommerce Subscriptions.
All these of course depend on your use case, what type of membership you want to sell, what does this membership offer etc.
No matter the case, your questions are welcome 🙂
Kind regards,
George
So if we were to add the memberships as a product through Woo Commerce, this should calculate correctly ?
As the memberships are recurring, would this also work ?
Thanks again.
Hi Dwayne,
Sorry but the Paid Membership Pro plugin is currently, at least, not supported by the Affiliates plugin. You can check the availiable integrations at the documentation page.
That’s the reason why purchases made through this plugin are not tracked by Affiliates plugin and only new user registrations are.
To make it more clear, the system tracks a referral’s purchase( through the appropriate integration) or a referral user registration.
If the purchase is not tracked, the Affiliates system cannot calculate the commission for the affiliate and therefore the tiers.
What happens now is the second case, the system tracks a new user registration who derived from clicking on an affiliate’s link.
Kind regards,
George
Back again
The affiliate should only earn off the membership amount, example 20% of 9.95, I have the referral rate set, and in testing no commisions are paid through the tiers and i’m not sure how the Base Amount works with this set up ??
I’ve checked the documentation but not really getting anywhere….
Again thanks for all you help
Dwayne
Well it depends on how much you want to grant to each affiliate. The base amount is the amount that is granted.
Have a look also at Affiliates>User Registration, there are examples given.
Cheers
Hi George
Thanks for the quick reply.
We have several subscription levels starting at 9.95, what should the base amount be set at. We also have multi tier enabled.
We do not have any attributes set for affiliates yet.
Thanks so much
Dwayne
Hi Dwayne,
Have you set a value under Affiliates>User Registration in Base amount and/or Amount fields?
Also make sure that the affiliate you are testing hasn’t got an affiliate attribute Referral Amount set to 0.
Btw if you haven’t checked the documentation yet on User Registration and Affiliates attributes these options should be set with a value other than zero.
Keep me posted if your problem has been resolved.
Kind regards,
George
