It’s nice to see that people are working with Groups also over the weekend! We’ve had a few requests related to Groups which I’ve attended today and I wanted to summarize here:

• Groups PayPal – Publish GPLv3 Open Source on GitHub
• Incompatibility with BuddyBoss
• Post Read restriction and Cron job

The first one is related to a discontinued premium extension, Groups PayPal. It’s been a few years now that we discontinued it and we recommend to use our Groups WooCommerce and the WooCommerce Subscriptions extensions instead as the combination provides more flexibility and a general solution, even if you only use PayPal.

The second request is related to what I think is a race condition, which can occur when Groups tries to create the same capability in two independent simultaneous requests. Rate, but it can happen. We might want to look into that and change the code that tries to insert to use a query that only inserts if the row doesn’t exist.

I’m looking forward to see the user’s reply about their solution on the issue they have reported with cron – if feasible, we can adopt a solution inside Groups.
