Importing only the first line declaring columns, no users.

Hi,

We just bought this plugin and as suggested installed it on a test domain of the intended website.
We first made an export of some example users in the example groups.
We filled in some additional test users in the text file. deleted the existing ones, as on the live site it will be importing only new users.

We imported the saved text file, this shows us this message: Column declaration found on line 1, the following column order is assumed: user_email, user_login, first_name, last_name, user_url, user_pass, roles, groups, meta:description, meta:tsajq_capabilities, meta:tsajq_user_level

Indicating it reads the file.

But all the following lines are :
0 valid entries have been read.

0 entries have been skipped.

0 users have been imported.

0 users have been updated.

But there are 2 more lines.

When we create a csv with MS Excel, which adds ‘;’ instead of tabs. it gives an instant error. Indicating the lines are read.

I’ve tried multiple file extentions but no luck.

Any help here would be appreciated.

Kind regards,

Martijn

  1. Hi Antonio,

We have got it working now in combination with sublime text for mac os.

The only thing that is not being imported correctly is the ‘meta:description’ column.
On a user were i filled in a description then exported the text is exported in that column. But there is no such text being imported.
For us this is after the groups and standard login information the most important column to import.

    Kind regards,

    Martijn

        Thank you for your reply.

Send you a reply with the file that works fine for the rest of the columns except the discription, no tabs in there as far as i can see.

  2. Hi Arnold,
maybe there is a problem with the file codification (sometimes the software add extra hidden characters).
If you send me the file to antonio[at]itthinx[dot]com indicating this topic, I can check if the problem is with the file.

          1. Thanks,
the problem is with the new line character used. Please try to edit the file with notepad, using the Enter key at the end of each line.
            Kind Regards,
            Antonio B.
